The invited panel speakers are as follows:

Mr Joel Teo (Moderator)
Mr Joel Teo

Joel Teo is a corporate finance lawyer in the corporate department of Lee & Lee, Advocates and Solicitors. He specializes in capital markets, corporate and M&A transactions, investment funds and private equity. He is into his fifth year of legal practice in Singapore and has a particular interest in green technology and PRC transactions. He is currently involved in the listing of a famous Singapore chain on Catalist and advising an SGX main board listed company in relation to its HK$366 million fund raising exercise.


Joel graduated with a Bachelors of Laws (LLB) from the National University of Singapore in 2005 and was called to the Singapore bar in 2006. He graduated in 2009 with a Master of Laws (LLM) with a specialization in Corporate and Commercial Law from the University of London (Queen Mary) and was admitted as a member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (Member grade) in the same year. He is also the author of the chapter on the Singapore legal history of water in the book entitled Encounters with Singapore Legal History – Essays in Memory of Geoffrey Wilson Bartholomew which was published by the Singapore Journal of Legal Studies”.

Prior to setting up Talent Catalyst, Mr Chang Siew Khang was Managing Director of the Government of Singapore Investment Corporation (GIC), one of the world’s leading sovereign wealth funds with over 1000 staff around the world. His portfolio while there included the Directorship of Administration & Personnel Department. Among his many contributions to the company were the setting up of the Global Business Continuity Plan, and the GIC school, which focuses on succession planning, managerial rejuvenation and leadership development.

Siew Khang has also been on the board of the Victoria Executive Committee and a strategic consultant to the Hwa Chong Junior College through-train programme.

Siew Khang graduated from the National University of Singapore with a degree in Mathematics and subsequently a Masters in Business Administration. Other certifications under his belt include the Strategic Human Resource Executive Programme by the University of Michigan, Strategic Human Resource Management by Harvard Business School and the Stanford Executive Programme by Stanford University.

Mr Henry Chua

After graduation from NUS in 1988, Henry worked in the banking industry with players such as HSBC, Credit Suisse, and Nomura.

Roles covered included analysis, management of special assets, marketing, and credit research. In these banks, Henry worked across different divisions such as corporate banking, fixed income, and wealth management. Left Nomura as Director of Credit in 2006 and joined a headhunting firm where he remains. Henry’s 18 years in the field have enabled him to be sensitive to the changing needs and challenges of the industry and client requirements.

  Mr Jerry Guan

Jerry Guan is an Accounting & Finance graduate from University of Lancaster, England. Started working as an external auditor in London for 3 years plus before coming back to Singapore to join a local bank as an internal auditor. After a short stint, he was headhunted to join an international European Bank as a corporate banker and stayed with the Bank for almost 11 years. He later joined his client as a Group Financial Controller and subsequently promoted to be the General Manager of the company. Thereafter, he moved on to be a headhunter specializing in Banking and Finance and has been with the same executive search company for more than 8 years.

Gryphus Capital

David is a founding Partner of Gryphus Capital and is responsible for Investments and Portfolio Monitoring.

David’s experience includes being an Associate Director of AIG Capital Recovery in Asia; Capital Recovery Group is the distressed investment team at AIG. Prior to AIG, David was with the Investment Banking Division and Asian Special Situations Group at Goldman Sachs in London and Hong Kong, where he was involved in various private investments (equity and debt), mergers and acquisitions transactions. His experience includes real estate, private equity and corporate finance transactions in Asia and Europe.

David holds an MBA from Harvard and a B.A. from Manchester University (UK).
