Message from President
Dear all,
It has been a good 5 years since I graduated from Hwa Chong. Many people leave their alma mater and never looked back. Not Hwa Chongians certainly.
Many Hwa Chongians may share my sentiments – We may have graduated and stopped wearing the uniform, but somehow, we are always involved with the school in some way or another. It is really as though we have never really left Hwa Chong at all!
Over the years, some things have changed, we have new buildings, we have the integrated program, we have more statues, but what’s new? Hwa Chong has always been the forerunner in education and development! And now, we have this new organisation called the Hwa Chong Alumni Youth Chapter. Nothing is considered too new for the Hwa Chong I knew.
However, some may argue that being receptive and adaptable to changes and new things make one a less sentimental soul. People simply forget what happened in the past! Is this assertion true of Hwa Chongians? Definitely not so. Look at the turnout at the Mid Autumn festival gathering every year! Take a look at the building that we are in now. All these are the efforts of Hwa Chongians transcending generations.
I am indeed honoured to be the inaugural president of the youth chapter. It’s creation is perhaps the best encapsulation of the Hwa Chong Spirit – the spirit of harmonizing creation built upon traditional values of unity, giving back and togetherness. I am thankful for the support of the school, the alumni association and last but not least, my team in making this organisation possible. In a few hours time, it may mark the end of our event, all it really symbolizes, is the beginning of the exciting road ahead.
Please join me in wishing the youth chapter a success and we look forward to your active participation in future.
Yours Sincerely,
Chang Zi Qian
President
